What are the options for filing my case?

You can fill out the paperwork by yourself on this website through our guided process, or we can help you find a lawyer.

  • You are eligible to fill out the documents through this website if you are planning to submit an "of the person" only case (no major property or significant financial accounts are involved).
    • Most counties will require a lawyer if property or substantial  financial accounts are involved (however, if government benefit checks are the only finances involved you can still qualify for an "of the person" only filing).

  • You will need to work with a lawyer if there is property or significant financial accounts involved ("of the property" filing).  You may also want to contact a lawyer for an "of the person" only case if you are not comfortable handling the process yourself.

How do you want to proceed?
