The Importance of Planning Ahead

Once children with developmental disabilities become adults, schools, doctor's offices, or other institutions may ask you for documentation to show that you are authorized to participate in the adult's affairs.

Failing to plan for the future of your adult child with developmental disabilities is also like not having a will or an estate plan.  Your child with developmental disabilities is likely to outlive you by many years, and if plans are not made it may be up to the court system to decide what is best for your child if you pass away without having taken action.  This scenario could leave everything to chance, and is how many adults with developmental disabilities are appointed a public guardian.

Legal solutions can seem difficult on the surface, but we are here to help guide you through the process.  A little bit of time spent now can make a huge difference for the future of your adult child with developmental disabilities.
